If you’re looking to sell your home this spring, we have some great advice. Today, we are going to go over our top 7 tips for KC home sellers this spring. These 7 things will have a huge impact on your home sale and your ability to sell for top dollar. Buyers want to see homes in excellent condition, so here’s what you can do to get there.

1. Fix all the small things. Small problems will make buyers wonder what larger problems are lurking. A pre-inspection can help you highlight the small items early, so you can fix them before you even list.

2. Declutter. Anything that doesn’t need to be in the house, get it in storage. Any dated furniture, big appliances, or general clutter should be removed to make your home feel bigger and more inviting.

3. Depersonalize. Your home is certainly an extension of your personality. However, when you’re selling, you want buyers to be able to visualize themselves living in the home. It’s hard for them to do that with family pictures or other personal items around.

4. Update and freshen any decor. Any dark walls or draperies should be replaced with lighter, more neutral colors. You want to make your home look more modern and minimalistic in order to appeal to the widest audience possible.

5. Curb appeal. It’s also important to make the home look good from the outside as well. Power wash the house, paint the front door, and get some landscaping done.

6. Repaint with neutral colors. If you have any rooms with bright, dark, or unusual color schemes, we recommend repainting them in a soft gray or white color.

7. Create your own story. We like to have our sellers write a short letter detailing all the things they love about the home. This is another way to draw buyers in and have them make an emotional connection with the home.

Those are our 7 tips for preparing your home for the spring market. If you have any questions for us or are thinking about listing your home, give us a call or send us an email. We look forward to hearing from you!
